MAGA (edited and revised)
(Why are his core followers loyal as the President just enriches himself?)
A question I keep asking myself, and my wife, over and over again, is why Donald Trump has such a loyal following among 30 percent of the population when he does nothing (well not nothing as I’ll point out) to make their lives better.
It’s happened repeatedly throughout history, most notably in Germany beginning in the 1930’s. A leader discovered that the key to winning over a sizable part of the population, that feels marginalized and insulted by certain aspects of progressive thinking, is to enjoin with them in hating a common enemy.
Immediately following his oath of office, Trump began attacking our Black citizens. He revoked D.E.I. which offers equal opportunity in hiring and said WOKE was dead in America. Sadly, I don’t think that the man even knows, or cares to know. what those things really mean. He only knows that they are something that benefits people of color and that is enough for him to attack them.
This was followed by what will be known as a historical attack on immigrants, even those who are here legally and doing the right things to earn citizenship. Mercilessly, his ICE army grabbed children, separated families, physically assaulted people just based on their color or accents and hurled them into facilities that continue to be notorious for the cruelty within.
There is another quality that binds people together. Trump, despite his supposed education (you can pay your way through school and not learn a darn thing) has a third graders vocabulary. I was an elementary school educator, and our third graders had a wider choice of words than the president. Many of Trumps followers distrust higher education and seek to control it through parental pressure tactics. Books should always be chosen carefully for their message and their vocabulary, but every school should have, and teach, books that reflect the diversity of our country and the lives of people who live in other countries. Even young children’s picture books like “A Flag for Juneteenth,” and hundreds of others, teach children important facts about the challenges people face and sometimes overcome.
Last night, at the spectacle that Trump held outside the White House, UFC heavyweight fighter Josh Hokit, who won his fake fight, stood at the mike, spitting down his chest and shouted, “Michelle Obama is aman, right America?” and Trump’s fans and followers cheered.
This is what Donald Trump stands for and this is the type of thing that keeps his core followers loyal.
