She's a CINO, Sandy. The crucifix around her neck is just a prop, a virtue signal to other CINOs who identify with the Prosperity Gospel, or the Seven Mountains Mandate, or whatever aberrant 'Christianity' they think they believe in.
Even though I'm a devout atheist, I know that none of them, NONE OF THEM, heed the teachings of the compassionate Christ. To them, Christ is a light-skinned, blue-eyed boy with golden locks. In reality, the Christ of the times written about in the Gospels (which were not contemporaneous to the historical Christ) would have looked nothing like how he is pictured today. In fact, if he had appeared in Minneapolis somewhere, he would have been wrestled to the ground because of the hue of his skin.
Derek, I think your response is briliant and right on target. I've been talking within my family about my sense that many of Trump's most avid followers are members of what I call 'the victims club.' They see themselves as more genuine and that their struggles are all because of the less genuine people (whether white or brown or black) who take away what they really deserve in terms of values or possessions. They have changed, as you say, the historical Jesus, and brown-skinned possibly Jewish man, to a Scandinavian blond, blue-eyed W.A.S.P. They've also militarized Jesus and taken his words and made him punitive and vengeful.
What is fascinating to me is that so many of Trump's followers are not wealthy people, yet they attach themselves to these often selfish, powerful figures as if they can share in that prosperity through devotion.
Peace and love to you too, my good friend and thank you again for your excellent analysis.

Peace & Love Sandy in these perilous times.
